Angel Moraes was in a class by himself as the only person in the dance music industry who could DJ, produce, remix, design and build his own sound systems at the level that he did.
One of Angel’s wish was to help disadvantaged children have easier access to music. A few months before he left us, Angel spoke about offering them free DJ and music production lessons. To honour that wish, his best friend Isabelle Dubé, created a fundraiser page on MUSICOUNTS, CANADA's music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and The JUNO Awards
-------------------------------------------
Today, WAXX perpetuates that dream by giving 25$ to MusiCounts for every ANGEL necklace sold.

Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, ANGEL MORAES was proclaimed one of the greatest DJs and underground dance music producers of modern times. Constantly redefining his craft, he became an inspiration for many people across the globe.
Moraes rose to prominence in the New York house scene during the late '80s, Very early in his career, the highly respected and sought after DJ, Producer/Remixer was invited to work on projects for The Pet Shop Boys, KD Lang, Jamie Myerson, Jocelyn Brown, Loleatta Holloway, and most recently Suzanne Palmer, Roy Davis Jr., Dana Divine, just to name a few.
In 1993, Angel Moraes founded Hot n Spycy Recordings alongside Jeffrey Rodman (who co-owned Sound Factory Bar and managed Club Twilo).
Angel was on a mission to introduce a whole new sound, and introduce it he did. From his very first productions "Release Yourself", "The Cure", "I Like It", "Heaven Knows", the Moraes sound started making noise, lots of noise. During his career, Moraes released a number of house anthems including 'Body Work', 'Welcome To The Factory' and 'To The Rhythm', remixed the likes of Jaydee and Pet Shop Boys, and released his final EP in 2019 via Nervous Records.
Angel chose his beloved Montreal city to house his long coming inspiration, the now world renowned STEREO nightclub. Inspired by his many nights at the Paradise Garage, Stereo was pretty much modelled after the legendary club and with the same philosophy. Mr. Moraes himself designed, built and installed the now infamous sound system.
From 2009 to 2012, Angel Moraes and partner Steve Bishop, introduced Montreal to a whole new level of dance euphoria : LOVE Sundays. Held at Terrasses Bonsecours every Sunday, this party was nothing short of spectacular, welcoming up to 6000, smiling, house music lovers.
During the pandemic, after building several incredible sound systems for dance clubs around the globe, Moraes decided to create a mini version of his infamous big stacks (speakers) and launched AM mini-stacks now called AM stacks.
Sadly, three months after his new project was born, Angel deceased abruptly.
Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, Angel was proclaimed one of the greatest DJs and underground dance music producers of modern times. Constantly redefining his craft, he became an inspiration for many people across the globe.
Angel Moraes will forever remain one of the world’s most influential, passionate, creative and truly dedicated underground House music artist.
